Laura obtained her BSc in Biology from the University of York followed by a MSc in Cancer Immunotherapy from the University of Nottingham. In 2010, she was awarded an A.J Clark studentship from the British Pharmacological Society to undertake her PhD at the University of Nottingham under the supervision of Dr Nicholas Holliday and Professor Stephen Hill. Her PhD investigated the pharmacological consequences of homo and heterodimerisation of the NPY Y receptors. After being awarded her PhD in 2014, Laura took up a postdoctoral position, characterising the molecular pharmacology of the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR2) and its co-receptor neuropilin-1. In 2019, she was awarded an Anne McLaren Fellowship from the University of Nottingham allowing her to begin her independent academic career. Laura is currently an Assistant Professor based in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham. Her main research interests are investigating the molecular interactions between G protein-coupled receptor and receptor tyrosine kinase family members, and whether such complexes represent potential new pharmacological targets.
